G-20 summit to be held in Srinagar from May 22-24: Marines and NSG commandos will be deployed in security

Security is being beefed up for the G-20 summit to be held in Srinagar from May 22 to 24. The conference will be organized at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Conference Center on the banks of Dal Lake. During this, Marine Commandos (MARCOS) will be deployed in Jhelum River and Dal Lake. NSG teams will be stationed at the venue to prevent possible suicide attacks. There will also be SOG with them.
On the other hand, the migration of Kashmiri Pandits and other non-Muslims started from the valley before the meeting. They have gone to Jammu to live temporarily.
Security officials have asked Kashmiri Pandit and other non-Muslim employees to be confined to offices and residences and not to go out unnecessarily. They have been asked to be extra vigilant.
A Pandit employee said – No one asked us to leave, but we have been advised to be cautious. We have had examples in the past where minorities have been targeted before a major event. We will come back after the meeting is over.
Hi-tech drones will be monitored across the city. CCTV cameras have been installed. Security posts have been made in many places. Police and CRPF have increased patrolling in Srinagar as well as surrounding districts. The CRPF is conducting a drill to search for explosives with the help of sniffer dogs near the venue. Policemen in plain uniform will be deployed in Srinagar and at the venue. Control offices have also been set up.
Srinagar is being beautified in view of the meeting. Construction work is going on in many places. Old bunkers made of sandbags and barbed wire are being made smart from the inside and beautiful from the outside. New bunkers are being made of bulletproof shields and sandbags are hidden behind them. The exterior of the bunkers is decorated with photographs of tourist places in Kashmir.
