Son of Sardaar 2: A Riotous Family Comedy with Heart
Son of Sardaar 2 delivers laughs and heart with Ajay Devgn’s Jassi leading a vibrant, emotional comedy. A must-watch!
Mumbai, August 2, 2025 — Sequels often struggle to recapture the magic of their predecessors, but Son of Sardaar 2, directed by Vijay Kumar Arora, defies the odds with a vibrant blend of humor, heart, and high-energy drama. Released as a follow-up to the 2012 hit, this 147-minute rollercoaster reunites audiences with Jaswinder “Jassi” Singh Randhawa, played by Ajay Devgn, in a story that’s as emotionally resonant as it is uproariously funny. With a stellar ensemble cast and a fresh narrative, the film delivers a wholesome family entertainer that’s already winning over audiences.
The story follows Jassi (Devgn) as he travels to London, hoping to rekindle his romance with his wife, Dimple (Neeru Bajwa). Instead, he’s blindsided by her request for a divorce, leaving him heartbroken and adrift. Enter Rabia (Mrunal Thakur), a lively Pakistani wedding choreographer who offers Jassi a place to stay and unwittingly pulls him into a whirlwind of comedic chaos. Rabia’s friend Danish (Chunky Panday) needs help: his daughter Saba is in love with Goggi (Sahil Mehta), the son of traditionalist Raja Sandhu (Ravi Kishan), who insists on a “sanskaari” Indian bride. Jassi steps in as a faux Indian army father, setting the stage for a hilarious clash of cultures and identities.
Ajay Devgn shines as Jassi, balancing sharp comic timing with moments of vulnerability that add depth to his character. His performance anchors the film, ensuring it never veers into caricature territory. Mrunal Thakur, in her first major commercial role, is a revelation as Rabia, bringing confidence and charm while sharing effortless chemistry with Devgn. Deepak Dobriyal steals scenes as Gul, a transgender character portrayed with wit and dignity, offering comic relief that feels authentic and heartfelt. Ravi Kishan, as the boisterous Raja Sandhu, infuses the role with Punjabi swagger and Bihari flair, making every moment a delight.
