Rocket Films to distribute South Indian Star Ramesh Aravind's Shivaji Surathkal 2 in North India

Rocket Films, the production company behind the hit movie The Y, has launched a distribution arm with the same name. The firm's first distribution in North India is the sequel to the successful South Indian movie, Shivaji Surathkal, starring Ramesh Aravind. The movie, directed by Akash Srivatsa and produced by Rekha K N and Anup Gowda, is set for release on April 14.

Shivaji Surathkal 2 sees the detective ageing gracefully and carrying a certain sense of maturity, having dealt with anxiety issues and hallucinations in the first movie. The sequel introduces a new character, Shivaji's daughter Siri Surathkal, and explores how she changes his life. Akash Srivatsa, the director, reveals that bringing Shivaji's inner feelings to light was the main challenge while making the sequel. Akash believes that despite the subject matter being better suited for the OTT route, Shivaji Surathkal 2 has all the qualities to be a theatrical release.

The director shares that the story idea for the sequel came from Ramesh Aravind, who suggested reading a series of books on forensics and police investigations. The director also mentions that the franchise is not just a series of investigations, but also deals with emotional turbulence and intelligence quotient, which will help the audience connect with the film.

The Case of Mayavi will be quite the challenge for Shivaji Surathkal in the sequel, as he not only has a worthy adversary but also faces time-bound obstacles. Akash reveals that he is ready with the third and fourth films in the series, and there is no doubt that Ramesh Aravind will be the face of the franchise.
