Lohit's accident happened on September 27. When he was brought to Apollo BGS Hospital in critical condition. In a CT scan, Lohit was diagnosed with a brain stem infarct (a condition in which blood does not reach the brain). He was kept in ICU for 2 days.
Subsequently, Apollo panellist doctors declared Lohit brain dead due to brain stem failure at 12.30 pm on 30 September as per the protocol made under the Human Organ Transplantation Act 1994.
Lohit was healthy before the accident. Lohit had some tests for organ donation, which were successful. Later his family members were persuaded to donate organs as per protocol. After this, Lohit's parents agreed to donate.
