The BCCI has proposed a schedule to the ICC for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026. As per this schedule, the match between India and Pakistan is set to take place on February 15th at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Defending champions India will try to defend their title under the captaincy of Suryakumar Yadav. Reports say the T20 World Cup will kick off on February 7th, while the final match is expected to take place on March 8th. The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad was chosen as the venue for the title clash. However, if Pakistan advances to the final, the venue will have to be changed.

According to reports, the BCCI submitted the proposed schedule to the ICC on Friday, and the full schedule is expected to be officially announced soon. The venues for the semi-finals and finals of the tournament will be decided based on the India-Pakistan situation. If Pakistan does not reach the final, the title match will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. However, if Pakistan reaches the final, the champion will be decided in Colombo, Sri Lanka. However, no official statement regarding the schedule has yet been issued by the ICC or BCCI.

Five venues in India and three in Sri Lanka have been shortlisted for the 2026 World Cup. Ahmedabad, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, and Mumbai have been shortlisted to host the tournament. Colombo and Kandy are among the three Sri Lankan venues.

The Indian team, which won the ICC Men's T20 World Cup in 2007, won its second title in 2024. Previously, only the West Indies and England had won the trophy twice. The teams of Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and Australia have also won the title once each.
