Bangladesh T20I team against Sri Lanka announced, former captain did not get a place
SL Vs BAN: Bangladesh announced a 16-member squad for the T20 series against Sri Lanka starting on July 10. Nazmul Hasan Shanto was not included in the team while Naim Sheikh and Taskin Ahmed returned. The three-match T20 series will start on July 10 in Kandy. Liton Das has been handed the captaincy.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has on Friday released a 16-player squad for the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka beginning July 10. Surprisingly, the erstwhile captain Nazmul Hasan Shanto has been omitted from the team. Liton Das has been made the captain.
Shanto, who vacated the T20 captaincy in the early part of this year, was included in the team for the recent United Arab Emirates and Pakistan tours. But he played only a solitary game against the UAE and did not feature in the Pakistan series. The left-handed batsman has been out of form in the shortest of the three formats of the game in the recent past. Maybe this is the reason why he has been dropped from the team.
Opener Naeem Sheikh has been included in the team after consistent good performances in domestic cricket. Fast bowler Mohammad Saifuddin has also returned to the team. Fast bowlers Nahid Rana, Hasan Mahmud, and Khalid Ahmed have also been dropped from the team.
