Asia Cup 2025: Bangladesh Recall Nurul Hasan After Three Years in 16-Member Squad

Bangladesh has announced a 16-member squad for the Asia Cup 2025. Liton Das, who led Bangladesh to victory in the recent T20 International series against Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka, will continue to lead the team. Wicket-keeper batsman Nurul Hasan Sohan has come back to the team. Nurul Hasan Sohan is back in the Bangladesh T20 International cricket team after almost three years. Nurul Hasan, a 31-year-old wicket-keeper batsman, last played for Bangladesh in the T20 format in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2022.

Aside from Nurul Hasan Sohan, Saif Hasan has also come back to the Bangladesh team, who played his last T20 International game against Pakistan on 7 October 2023. Bangladesh selectors, meanwhile, did not provide a spot for Mehdi Hasan Miraz. Currently, he has been made part of the standby players of the Asia Cup, besides Soumya Sarkar, Tanvir Islam, and Hasan Mahmud.

While Tanjid Hasan Tamim and Parvez Hussain Emon will open for Bangladesh, the responsibility of fast bowling will be on the shoulders of Taskin Ahmed, Shoriful Islam, Mustafizur Rahman, and Mohammad Saifuddin. Nasum Ahmed and Rishad Hussain will be included in the spin department along with Mahedi Hasan. The responsibility of the middle order will be on the shoulders of Zakir Ali Anik, Tauhid Hridoy, and Shamim Hussain.

Bangladesh will start its campaign in the Asia Cup 2025 against Hong Kong on 11 September at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. Bangladesh cricket team has so far reached the final of the Asia Cup three times in 2012, 2016, and 2018, where it was runner-up after losing once to Pakistan and twice to India.
