The family had filed a lawsuit alleging that both companies were responsible for Theresa Garcia's death. Garcia's daughter, Stephanie Salcedo, filed the case on behalf of her family. Family members believe that the woman died in 2020 due to cancer. But cancer was caused by asbestos. The family members alleged that the company sold the talcum powder despite knowing that it contained asbestos. J&J says that its talc-based products do not cause cancer.

  The case was heard late on Friday night in Chicago. In this, the jury members fined the company $45 million, which is to be given to the victim's family.

The family's attorney, Jessica Dean, said the family is grateful that jurors saw through the "deception" perpetrated by J&J and Kenview. And it is believed that talcum powder can cause cancer.

That baby powder was put into J&J bottles even after the companies knew that the talcum contained asbestos impurities. The family had claimed that the woman had ovarian cancer in 2016 due to the use of baby powder contaminated with asbestos.
