UP Warriors won the 8th match of the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2026, which was played at the DY Patil Sports Academy on Thursday. With their 7 wicket victory over Mumbai Indians, the Warriors have finally got their first victory. UP Warriors, who currently rank fifth on the points table, have lost their initial three games before resuming their victory. Mumbai Indians, on the other hand, remain amongst the top two despite their two out of four defeats.

Mumbai Indians lost the toss and decided to bat. They scored 161 runs losing five wickets on the allocated overs. Amanjot Kaur and G. Kamalini, the opening pair, added 43 runs on 7.2 overs. Amanjot was dismissed after fetching 38 runs on 33 deliveries with the help of seven fours. Kamalini (5) also lost her wicket in the next over. From there, captain Harmanpreet Kaur, along with Nat Sciver-Brunt, added 29 runs for the third wicket to take the team to 74. The captain contributed 16 runs.

Nat Sciver-Brunt, along with Nicola Carey, added 85 runs for the fourth wicket in 43 balls to take the team to a strong total. Sciver-Brunt was dismissed for 65 off 43 balls, while Nicola Carey remained unbeaten on 32. Shikha Pandey, Deepti Sharma, Sophie Ecclestone, and Asha Joy took one wicket each for the opposition.

In response, UP Warriors won in 18.1 overs. Meg Lanning and Kiran shared a 42-run partnership in 6.1 overs. Lanning was dismissed for 25, while Kiran made 10. The team had lost two wickets by the score of 45. From there, Phoebe Litchfield, along with Chloe Tryon, added 73 runs for the third wicket to take the team to 118. Litchfield returned to the pavilion after scoring 25 runs in 22 balls.

Tryon, along with Harleen Deol, shared an unbroken 44-run partnership for the fourth wicket in 19 balls, giving the Warriors victory with 11 balls to spare. Deol remained unbeaten on 64 off 39 balls with 12 fours, while Tryon added 27. For the opposition, Sciver-Brunt took two wickets, while Amelia Kerr took one.
