Tata Nexon CNG: How special will be the country's first CNG car with turbo engine? Know the details

Tata Nexon has proved to be a game changer for the company. Tata first introduced it in the Indian market in 2017 and till now more than 6 lakh units have been sold. Currently, it is available in both ICE engine and Electric Vehicle (EV) variants and the company will also offer it with CNG fuel option. Come, let us know about it.

A few days ago, Tata Motors revealed the Nexon iCNG concept at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024. Its production model is anticipated to go on sale in India during the next few months, making it the country's first turbocharged petrol vehicle with CNG technology.

Tata Motors plans to launch its CNG version of the Nexon, capitalising on the excitement generated by the redesign. With the introduction of the twin-cylinder Tiago and Tigor models a few years ago, Tata introduced iCNG technology. On the other hand, it's a huge advancement that the nation's first twin-cylinder iCNG technology has arrived without sacrificing boot space.

Tata claims that the Nexon iCNG will deliver superior drivability and performance across various terrains with high ground clearance thanks to advanced low-end torque and refined calibration. The factory-fitted CNG system comes with thermal incident safety, leakage detection feature, micro switch, 6-point cylinder mounting scheme, single ECU and high-quality materials in the kit.

It will use the familiar 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol engine producing 120 PS and 170 Nm but with a lower performance output. It will be mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, while an AMT may also be on offer.
