Sunrisers Hyderabad star created a sensation in T20 World Cup 2024, dismissed half the team for just 9 runs

Afghanistan beat Uganda by 125 runs in the fifth match of the T20 World Cup 2024. In this match, Afghanistan fast bowler Fazelhaq Farooqi wreaked havoc, taking 5 wickets for 9 runs. The 23-year-old player, who made a name for himself with his fast bowling, admitted that he benefited from playing franchise cricket and attributed his strong performance to it. Fazal is a member of the Sunrisers Hyderabad IPL team but has not played a single match this season due to injury. He has also played consistently in the Bangladesh Premier League.

Farooqi said after the match, "I tried to bowl on the wicket and see what happens. The ball was swinging from the beginning and later I tried to bowl slowly because the ball was not coming on the bat well. Playing franchise cricket definitely helps. When you play big matches with big players, it helps you come to such tournaments."

Afghanistan scored 183 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 20 overs and then bowled out Uganda for just 58 runs on the back of Farooqi's brilliant bowling. Fazal Haq Farooqi became the sixth Afghan player to take five wickets for Afghanistan in T20 and bowled the fourth-best bowling spell in the history of the T20 World Cup. Fazalhaq Farooqi said, "Congratulations to all Afghan fans on this victory, I have missed a hat-trick 7-8 times in my career. It is not in my control, but I will try better in the future."
