Sanju Samson-Ravindra Jadeja Swap Still Unfinalised; Sam Curran Causes Delay in RR-CSK Deal

IPL 2025 retention date is on November 15th, and all the teams have just four days left now. As of now, the most-talked-about trade deal is between Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings under which Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran would head to RR as Sanju Samson would join CSK. There has been interest from both the franchises, but the deal hasn't been finalised yet.

The deal between RR and CSK regarding Ravindra Jadeja for Sanju Samson hasn't been closed yet. And the reason is believed to be Sam Curran. As per reports, Rajasthan Royals had asked the England all-rounder to be included in the deal along with Jadeja. This is the reason why the deal has been stalled.

According to a Cricbuzz report, Rajasthan Royals' foreign player quota is currently full. Therefore, CSK's trade deal for Curran has not yet been finalized. RR will have to release at least one foreign player to make way for Curran. They already have Jofra Archer, Shimron Hetmyer, Wanindu Hasaranga, Mahesh Theekshana, Fazalhaq Farooqui, Quena Mphaka, Nandre Burger, and Luan-Dre Pretorius.

The report states that RR is currently in a very precarious situation, with only ₹30 lakh in cash. Meanwhile, CSK acquired Curran for ₹2.4 crore (approximately $2.4 million) in the IPL 2025 mega auction. Therefore, RR will have to release at least one of their foreign players to include Curran in the team. Previous reports claimed that RR wanted to release Sri Lankan duo Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana. Both were acquired in the mega auction but did not perform well.

The trade deal involving Sanju Samson and Ravindra Jadeja is fairly straightforward. Both players are valued at ₹18 crore (approximately $1.8 million). However, RR is demanding the inclusion of an additional player in the deal, which is causing the delay. Despite issuing expressions of interest, neither RR nor CSK has yet informed the BCCI about the trade.
