Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday expressed his condolences to the people who lost their lives in the Michong cyclone. Cyclone Michong hit the coast in Bapatla district of Andhra Pradesh between 12:30 pm and 2:30 pm on Tuesday with a speed of 90 to 100 km per hour. Dozens of people have died in this.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted on Twitter, "My thoughts are with the families of those who have lost their loved ones due to Cyclone Michong, especially with the people of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Puducherry. My prayers are with all those in need of relief from this cyclone. "We are with those injured or affected. Officials are working tirelessly on the ground to assist those affected and will continue their work until the situation returns to normal."

Michong has caused massive devastation in many districts of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. Roads here have been damaged, rivers, canals and ponds are in spate, and flood-like situations have arisen in many areas. Thousands of acres of crops have been submerged in the state. The death toll due to the Typhoon that hit Chennai and surrounding areas of Tamil Nadu on Monday has increased to 17.
