Order issued for random sample survey regarding new variant of Covid, said to be not dangerous

The new strain of COVID-19, cases of which have been reported in several nations, including Singapore, has alarmed the World Health Organisation. As a result, the Union Health Ministry issued numerous directives and guidelines during a crucial meeting on Saturday following the discovery of these cases across the nation. Currently, a survey will be carried out over a week in several states across the nation using random samples. Nonetheless, experts and officials connected to the Union Health Ministry claim that this modified strain of COVID-19 is not harmful and shouldn't be taken too seriously. Right now, the report from the random sample survey conducted in the second week of June will be used to inform future strategy decisions.

Complete information about the patients and states affected by the changed form of COVID-19 was presented in an important meeting at the Union Health Ministry. According to the information, information about about 325 cases of KP.1 and KP.2 has come to light. In this, 34 cases of KP.1 have been found in different states of the country. Of these, a maximum of 23 cases have been found in West Bengal. Whereas four cases of this variant have been reported in Maharashtra. Similarly, two patients each have been found in Gujarat and Rajasthan. According to the data of the Union Health Ministry, one patient each of this new variant has been found in Uttarakhand including Goa and Haryana.

According to officials associated with the Union Health Ministry, so far about 290 cases of KP.2 have been reported in the country. Which includes 148 cases from Maharashtra. 36 cases have been found in West Bengal, 21 in Rajasthan, 23 in Gujarat, 16 in Uttarakhand, 12 in Goa, 17 in Odisha, 8 in Uttar Pradesh and 4 in Karnataka, 3 in Haryana, one each in Madhya Pradesh and Delhi. The Union Health Ministry has given instructions for a random sample survey to monitor the cases of new variants and sub-variants in different states of the country. According to officials, in the states where such cases have been reported, intensive monitoring as well as sampling has been asked for the next two weeks. Senior officials of the Union Health Ministry said that although this case is not at all dangerous, the Union Health Ministry is keeping a close watch on every activity.

Dr. NK Arora, who is associated with the committee that monitors COVID cases, says that the first thing is that the cases that are coming up are normal. This means that there is neither any horror in the changed form of COVID-19 nor is there any need to be afraid of it. Dr. Arora says that still, taking cognizance of the cases being found in different parts of the country, orders for a random sample survey have been given. He says that the areas where these cases have occurred are being intensively monitored. He says this because many of these cases are from long ago and all the people are healthy. In such cases, it is being seen whether someone needs to be admitted to the hospital or not. Doctor NK Arora says that no patient is needing to be admitted to the hospital in any way. Therefore, there is no need to panic at all about this variant.
