OpenAI launched GPT-5, CEO Altman said-India can become our biggest market
OpenAI: OpenAI has launched its next-generation model GPT-5. It has been launched in three different forms, including GPT-5, GPT-5-Mini, and GPT-5-Nano. The new model can understand more than 12 Indian languages better.

OpenAI launched its next-generation model, GPT-5, on Wednesday, making it available to everyone for free. On this occasion, the company's CEO Sam Altman said that India, which is currently the second-largest market for OpenAI, can soon become its largest market in the world.
Sam Altman described India as a very fast-growing market. He said that the way people and companies here are adopting Artificial Intelligence (AI) is tremendous. He said, 'India is the second largest market for us after America, and it can also become the largest. What people here are doing with AI is very remarkable.'
Altman also said that OpenAI is working on a product made specifically for India. For this, the company is working closely with local partners to make AI an affordable and useful technology in India. Sam Altman said during a media briefing that he is coming to India in September and is very excited to see India's rapid progress.
OpenAI announced the launch of GPT-5 on Thursday. It also described it as 'its best model so far for coding and agentic tasks'. The company said that GPT-5 has been launched in three different forms, including GPT-5, GPT-5-mini, and GPT-5-nano. This will help developers balance speed, price, and performance according to their needs.
While GPT-5 in ChatGPT is a system of logic, non-logical, and router models, GPT-5 in the API platform is the logic model that empowers maximum performance in ChatGPT. OpenAI said in a blog post, 'GPT-5 with minimal logic is a different model from ChatGPT's non-logic model, and is better optimized for developers. The non-logic model used in ChatGPT is available as gpt-5-chat-latest.'
Sam Altman said that GPT-5 is much better and advanced than the earlier model GPT-4. This is a big step towards Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). He said, 'GPT-5 feels like you are talking to a real expert (like a PhD holder). And we want it to be easy and accessible to everyone. That's why it has also been made available in the free tier.'
ChatGPT chief Nik Turley said that the new model can understand more than 12 Indian languages better. He said that this is very exciting, because India is a priority market for us. GPT-5 has been launched for free, plus and pro users from August 7. Enterprise and education users will get this facility after a week.
