Mahindra has now made its popular SUV Scorpio-N safer and premium. The company has added a new Z8T variant with Level-2 ADAS technology to it, which can be beneficial for customers in terms of both features and price.
Mahindra & Mahindra has upgraded its bestselling SUV Scorpio-N substantially with respect to technology as well as safety. Now, this SUV has also been launched with Level-2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) specifications by the firm. Apart from this, a new Z8T variant has also been launched by the company, expanding the Z8 series. These upgrades come at a time when the Scorpio-N has completed three years in the market, and the company has sold 2.5 lakh units of this SUV so far.
Level-2 ADAS features have been added to the top variant Z8L of the new Scorpio-N, which includes advanced safety systems like Forward Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go, Smart Pilot Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assist, Traffic Sign Recognition, and High Beam Assist. These features increase the alertness of the driver not only in highway driving but also in city traffic, and reduce the chances of accidents.
Apart from this, the company has also added two new exclusive features, Speed Limit Assist and Front Vehicle Start Alert, to its ICE portfolio. Speed Limit Assist immediately alerts the driver when the speed of the vehicle exceeds the prescribed limit. At the same time, Front Vehicle Start Alert is activated when the vehicle standing in front starts moving. This system gives signals to the driver through visual, audio, and vibration to improve the response time.
No mechanical changes have been made in the new Scorpio-N. It will get the same 2.0-liter turbo-petrol engine and 2.2-liter diesel engine as before. The turbo petrol engine gives 200 bhp power and 380 Nm torque, while the diesel engine generates 172.4 bhp power and up to 400 Nm torque. Apart from this, the low-spec diesel version with 130 bhp and 300 Nm torque will also continue, which will be available only with a manual transmission.
