'NASA will soon provide advanced training to Indian astronauts for ISS', US Ambassador said in Bangalore

Indian astronauts will shortly receive advanced training from NASA in order to send a joint mission to the International Space Station later this year or early in the following year. The United States' Ambassador to India, Eric Garcetti, has provided this information. Garcetti was present at the US-India Commercial Space Conference that took place in Bengaluru recently. The US Commercial Service (USCS) and the US-India Business Council (USIBC) planned the event.

Addressing the event, Garcetti said that NASA will soon provide advanced training to Indian astronauts. This is one of the promises made between the leaders of the two countries. He said that we will soon launch the NISAR satellite from ISRO's Satish Dhawan Space Center to monitor all resources including the ecosystem, the earth's surface, natural hazards, sea level rise, and cryosphere. NISAR is a joint Earth-observation mission between NASA and ISRO.

ISRO Chairman S Somnath also addressed the program. He said that I should salute the thinking of the visionary leaders of India and America for making such agreements. He said that the relationship between Indian and American partners in the space sector is actually strengthening. I am very happy with this progress.   USIBC Managing Director Alexander Slater said the program underlines the importance of fostering innovations and strategic partnerships to advance the space industry.

S Somnath, the head of ISRO, stated that the agency aims to use the current launcher capacity to establish the first "Indian International Station" by 2028. We also want to develop it as a laboratory where you, space scientists, can come and conduct experiments after the first Indian space station is successfully established. The head of ISRO predicted that the Indian Space Station will provide significant advantages in the near future. Economic outcomes can be attained in this way as well.
