MCA was already angry with this decision of Musheer, know how long he will stay away from cricket
Musheer Khan Accident: Mumbai batsman Musheer Khan's SUV car crashed on Friday night while going from Azamgarh to Lucknow, causing injuries to his neck and arms, and legs.
Mumbai batsman Musheer Khan's SUV car crashed on Friday night while going from Azamgarh to Lucknow, causing injuries to his neck and arms and legs. 19-year-old Musheer is undergoing treatment at Medanta Hospital in Lucknow and is likely to be out of the rest of the season. Musheer, brother of India batsman Sarfaraz Khan, was accompanied by his father and coach Naushan Khan in the car and Naushan Khan also suffered minor injuries in the accident. A Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) source said the car went out of control at high speed and overturned several times on the road. Doctors are waiting for the scan report to confirm whether he has a neck fracture and how serious it is.
"Musheer will now be out of action this season. His Fortuner car overturned multiple times in a high-speed accident while he was on his way to Azamgarh from Lucknow, causing injuries to his neck and limbs. He will have to rest for three months after being hospitalised. After that, he will have to undergo rehabilitation, which means he will be able to play only after six to seven months. Musheer is currently undergoing treatment at Medanta Hospital in Lucknow," an MCA source said. Musheer, who was training with his father in Azamgarh, was scheduled to join his teammates in Lucknow for the Irani Cup match against Rest of India at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium from October 1.
The MCA officials are equally miffed at the decision of Musheer, who, after games in the Duleep Trophy, went to train in Azamgarh instead of reporting to the local domestic team here in Mumbai. Musheer last turned out for India B in the Duleep Trophy, having made his maiden appearance in the tournament against India A in Bengaluru earlier this month. He made 181 in his debut match but could not replicate that form in the remainder of the tournament. Musheer, who was one of India's most successful performers in the 2024 Under -19 World Cup, responded well to his Ranji Trophy comeback in February this year with some burning knocks. He hit his maiden first-class double century in his first game for Mumbai in nearly two years, and later hit a second innings century in the Ranji final against Vidarbha to help Mumbai win a record 42nd Ranji title.
Musheer has scored 716 runs in nine first-class matches at an average of over 50 with three centuries and a half-century to his name. The MCA are yet to announce his replacement for the batsman. The MCA is expecting Sarfaraz Khan, despite still being in Kanpur with the Indian team but not in the playing XI for the second Test against Bangladesh, joining their team.
