iOS 18.1 update: Several amazing features included from Image Playground to ChatGPT

Apple released the iOS 18.1 update last week and this time Apple has introduced Apple Intelligence, i.e. Apple's artificial intelligence (AI). As per the report, with the iOS 18.2 update, various Apple Intelligence features such as the integration of ChatGPT in Siri and a new Image Playground app can be launched earlier than expected. Apart from this, the release timeline of other iOS 18 updates has also been indicated.

This will get many Apple AI features with the iOS 18.2 update in December, already confirmed by Apple. And following the trends of previous updates, this update may come in the second week of December. Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, in his "Power on" newsletter, has claimed that the release of iOS 18.2 can also happen ahead of schedule, which is December. It can be released in the week of 2nd.

The report also states that with this update most of Apple's features will be available in English. Gurman also suggests that Apple's next major AI update will come with iOS 18.4. It is likely to launch in April 2025 and will include many of Siri's features.

Some big Apple features coming in iOS 18.2 include a new Image Playground app that creates photos using text-based prompts inclusive of generative AI.

It also comes with Genmoji, which does the same but for emojis. Users can then share these photos and emojis in apps like Messages, Notes, and Keynote. Then there is the Image Wand feature that can turn a simple sketch into a photo using prompts.

Apple has also introduced the integration of ChatGPT in Siri in its latest update. Now its voice assistant will answer users' questions through OpenAI's AI chatbot. Users can get better answers directly from Siri using ChatGPT. iOS Chat will also become part of the writing tools in 18.2. This feature requires optional sign-in.
