Whenever the story of unfortunate players is written in the history of Indian cricket, the name of right-handed batsman Sanju Samson will come to the top. In the last ten years, Samson never got continuous opportunities in the Indian team as compared to other players. Now he has to warm the bench in domestic cricket also.
Samson has come in as a replacement for the right-handed wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan in the India D team of Duleep Trophy 2024. Ishan Kishan has been ruled out of the first round match due to an injury. BCCI has informed that Ishan has a groin injury.
Shreyas Iyer-led India D is up against Rituraj Gaikwad-led India C. KS Bharat has been included in the playing 11 as wicketkeeper in this match. Samson sits out.
