India was the Bronze medalist of the last edition. In fact, India made a winning start to its Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championship campaign on Wednesday with a brilliant 5-0 win over Macau in the first match of Group D. With this strong victory, they also confirmed India's place in the knockout stage. Now they will face two-time runner-up South Korea in the second match on Thursday to decide the group winner. India took the lead in mixed doubles on the strength of Satish Karunakaran and Aadya Variyath. This pair won 21-10, 21-9 over Leong Iok Chong and Ng Weng Chee.

Lakshya Sen defeated Pui Pang Fong 21-16, 21-12 in men's singles and Malvika Bansod defeated Chan Hao Wai 21-15, 21-9 in women's singles to seal India's berth in the knockouts.

India fielded a new men's doubles pair of MR Arjun and Chirag Shetty who defeated Macau's Pui Chi Chon and Wong Kok Weng 21-15, 21-9 to make it 4-0. Gayatri Gopichand and Trisha Jolly defeated Ng Weng Chee and Pui Chi Wa in women's doubles 21-10, 21-5.
