Huawei Unveils Nova Flip S: Affordable Foldable with 50MP Camera and 66W Charging
Huawei has launched its new foldable smartphone, the Nova Flip S, in China. This phone is similar to last year's Nova Flip model, but comes at a lower price and in two new color options. It features a 50MP dual rear camera, a 32MP selfie camera, and a 4,400mAh battery. This phone runs on HarmonyOS 5.1.
The Huawei Nova Flip S has been launched in China. It features the same specifications as the Nova Flip model launched in August 2024 but is cheaper and comes in two new color options. The phone has a 4,400mAh battery, a 50-megapixel dual rear camera, and a 32-megapixel selfie shooter. It includes a 2.14-inch cover screen and a 6.94-inch foldable main display. This clamshell foldable phone is likely powered by the same Kirin 8000 chipset found in the standard Nova Flip variant.
The Huawei Nova Flip S is priced at CNY 3,388 (approximately Rs. 41,900) for the 256GB model, while the 512GB version costs CNY 3,688 (around Rs. 45,600). It is available in New Green, Zero White, Sakura Pink, Star Black, Sky Blue, and Feather Sand Black.
The Nova Flip S features a 6.94-inch full-HD+ (2690×1136 pixels) OLED foldable inner screen and a 2.14-inch OLED cover display, both with rounded corners. The outer screen has a resolution of 480×480 pixels. The main display supports the P3 wide color gamut, a 120Hz LTPO adaptive refresh rate, 1440Hz high-frequency PWM dimming, and a 300Hz touch sampling rate, making it smoother and more responsive.
Huawei hasn't revealed the chipset or RAM details yet, but reports suggest it may feature the same Kirin 8000 processor as the standard Nova Flip. The phone offers 256GB and 512GB storage options and runs HarmonyOS 5.1.

In terms of camera setup, the Nova Flip S features a 50-megapixel main camera with an f/1.9 aperture and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera with an f/2.2 aperture. The main camera supports 4K video recording. The company notes that photo quality may vary depending on the shooting mode. The inner display houses a 32-megapixel camera with an f/2.2 aperture.
The Nova Flip S packs a 4,400mAh battery with 66W fast wired charging support. When unfolded, it measures 6.88mm thick and weighs 195 grams. For security, it has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor that provides quick and reliable authentication.
