Hindustan Motors plans to launch electric scooter in the market
The company hopes to set up a new joint venture with a European partner to manufacture electric two-wheelers by next year, according to a PTI report. He said that it may consider making electric four-wheelers at a later date.



The major vehicle manufacturer Hindustan Motors which has taken the country's famous car ambassador tour is currently preparing to make a comeback once again. Although, this time the company is working on a plan to launch not only four-wheelers but also electric two-wheelers. According to media reports, the company will soon introduce an electric scooter, and, later it is also considering launching a four-wheeler in the market.
The company hopes to set up a new joint venture with a European partner to manufacture electric two-wheelers by next year, according to a PTI report. He said that it may consider making electric four-wheelers at a later date. Both the companies will examine the economic aspects of this joint venture this month, only after that the investment structure (decision) and formation of the new company will be done, and this is expected to be completed by February 15.
Uttam Bose, director of Hindustan Motors stated that, after the formation of the new entity, two more quarters would be required to start the pilot run of the project, adding that the final product would be completed by the end of the next financial year. The company will manufacture its vehicles at the Uttarpara plant, which is about 20 km from the city of Kolkata. Spread over an area of 90 acres, it is the first in the country and the second oldest car factory in Asia after Toyota of Japan.
