The Indian team has reached Dubai for the Champions Trophy 2025 to play its first match against Bangladesh on 20 February. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has recently made major changes in the rules related to the comfort of the players. This was followed in the recent England series and now it will also be applicable in the Champions Trophy 2025.

Due to this reason, the board has not allowed the personal assistant (PA) of head coach Gautam Gambhir to stay in the players' hotel. The PTI report indicates that a member of the coach's personal secretary, who used to stay in the team hotel on a regular basis, is staying separately, while he was accompanying the team wherever he went during the home series against England.

The report does not name Gambhir. But apart from Gautam Gambhir, no member of the Indian coaching staff has a personal secretary. During the home series against England, Gambhir's PA was present at the venues of India's matches, but was not allowed at players' and official functions. Apart from this, he stayed in a separate hotel in this series as well.

Players are not allowed to bring their wives and families to the Champions Trophy. According to the new rule, now players cannot take their families with them on foreign tours for a long time. According to the new rule, if a player stays on a foreign tour for 45 days, then his wife and a child below 18 years of age can stay with him for two weeks in a series. During this time, BCCI will bear only their living expenses. The player will have to bear the rest of the expenses himself. During this period, if any player breaks the rules then the coach, captain, and GM Operations will be responsible for it.
