CBI's big action in Mahadev betting app case, raids on 60 locations from Delhi to MP-Chhattisgarh

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted raids at 60 places in Chhattisgarh, Bhopal, Kolkata, and Delhi on Wednesday in a case related to Mahadev Betting App. In the raid, the residences of politicians, senior bureaucrats, police officers, key officials of Mahadev Book, and other private individuals were raided, who were suspected to be involved in this unlawful activity.

Mahadev Book, an online betting site, is being operated by Saurabh Chandrakar and Ravi Uppal, and both of them are currently in Dubai. According to the CBI, the investigation has revealed that these promoters had paid huge sums of money as "protection fees" to government employees to run the operations of their illegal network smoothly.

Mahadev App promoter Saurabh Chandrakar was arrested from Dubai in November 2024 after Interpol issued a red corner notice against him. The notice was issued at the request of the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The CBI said that during the investigation in this case, important digital and documentary evidence has been recovered, which has been seized.
The case was first registered by the Economic Offenses Wing (EOW) in Raipur, but later the Chhattisgarh government handed over the matter to the CBI for a thorough investigation. The CBI is now investigating the role of senior public officials and other accused persons in the case.
