Wipro focusing on artificial intelligence: company will invest Rs 8,230 crore in AI in next three years

India's leading IT service provider company Wipro Limited said on Wednesday (July 12) that it has planned to invest $ 1 billion, or about Rs 8,230 crore, in Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the next 3 years. The company has given this information in the exchange filing.
The company said, "With this investment, we will focus on the expansion (expansion) of AI, big data, and analytics solutions, as well as the development of new research and development platforms." Wipro has also launched its AI-first innovation ecosystem 'Wipro ai360'. Along with this, the company has said that it will train about 2,50,000 of its employees on AI in the next 12 months.
Wipro Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Thierry Delaporte said, "We now expect a fundamental change for all industries after the arrival of generative AI." The company will employ 30,000 data analytics and AI experts across four global business sectors, including cloud services, cyber security, engineering, and design.
This statement of Wipro came after an announcement by its rival Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). In fact, TCS said a week ago that it plans to train and certify 25,000 of its engineers on Microsoft's Azure Open AI.
Companies around the world, from banks to big tech companies, have also doubled their investment in AI after the introduction of ChatGPT. A Generative AI chatbot by Microsoft-backed OpenAI took the world by storm in late 2022.
