Some Q and A with Ambika Mani:

Q. What sparked your journey into software entrepreneurship?

Ambika Mani: “My journey into software entrepreneurship was shaped deeply by my personality, upbringing, and the experiences I gathered early in life. Being actively involved in sports played a crucial role in shaping who I am today. Sports instilled in me discipline, resilience, confidence, and the courage to face competition without fear. It taught me how to accept failure, rise stronger, and push beyond perceived limits, qualities that later became the backbone of my entrepreneurial mindset. From childhood, I carried a strong desire to keep my head high and build an identity of my own, one rooted in self-respect and independence.

When I began working under others, I realised very quickly that structured systems, rigid hierarchies, and constant pressure restricted my creativity. That phase never brought me joy or fulfilment. I felt confined, as if my potential was being capped by limitations that did not align with my vision. I always dreamt bigger and wanted to conquer challenges on my own terms. I am naturally a go-getter and never felt comfortable reporting to someone else for my growth or self-worth.

Additionally, my spouse and I shared a deep passion for creating opportunities and generating employment for others. We believed in building something meaningful that could positively impact people’s lives. Entrepreneurship gave me the freedom to lead, innovate, take responsibility, and align my work with my inner purpose. That inner fire to grow, to create, and to lead independently truly sparked and continues to sustain my entrepreneurial journey.

Q. How do you stay innovative in a fast-changing tech world?

Ambika Mani: “Innovation, especially in the technology space, is not a choice; it is a necessity. The tech world evolves every single day, and staying relevant requires constant awareness, adaptability, and discipline. I strongly believe that innovation begins with curiosity. I make it a conscious habit to study emerging technologies, understand market behaviour, and analyse how global trends are shaping the future of software. Continuous learning has always been an integral part of my journey, and I treat it as a lifelong commitment rather than a phase.

Equally important, however, is the ability to unlearn. Holding on to outdated practices, beliefs, or comfort zones can become a silent obstacle to growth. I regularly evaluate what no longer serves the present or the future and consciously let it go. This process of learning and unlearning helps me stay agile and open-minded.

I also believe innovation is not limited to technology alone, but it is reflected in mindset, leadership approach, and problem-solving ability. Staying innovative means being flexible, listening actively, and being willing to experiment without fear of failure. Experience gives wisdom, but adaptability gives relevance. For me, innovation is about balancing strong fundamentals with future readiness, constantly upgrading myself while staying grounded in values, discipline, and clarity. That balance allows me to evolve confidently in an ever-changing technological ecosystem.

Q. What is your key advice for women building startups today?

Ambika Mani: “My strongest advice to women building startups today is to dream bigger than their circumstances and never underestimate their own potential. Women often carry invisible limitations created by societal conditioning, self-doubt, and the fear of failure. Entrepreneurship is not an easy journey;y it is filled with uncertainty, setbacks, and moments where everything feels overwhelming. However, these difficult phases are not meant to weaken women; they are meant to shape strength, resilience, and clarity.

I strongly believe in the power of learning tounleasha, rn letting go of fear, hesitation, guilt, and limiting beliefs. Staying focused on your vision is critical, especially when distractions and challenges try to pull you off course. Consistency matters more than perfection. There will be times when progress feels slow, but persistence during those phases defines long-term success.

Believing in yourself is non-negotiable. Trust your instincts, honour your journey, and understand that setbacks are not signs of failure; they are lessons preparing you for something greater. Never give up during hard times, because those are the moments that build confidence and character. Women have immense emotional strength, intuition, and adaptability, and when these qualities are aligned with discipline and belief, there is nothing they cannot achieve. Every dream is valid, and with perseverance and courage, it can become a reality.

Q. What leadership quality has helped you the most as an entrepreneur?

Ambika Mani: “The leadership qualities that have helped me the most in my entrepreneurial journey are compassion, empathy, and an unending hunger to grow. In the pursuit of success, it is easy to focus solely on numbers, targets, and outcomes, but real leadership goes far beyond that. Compassion allows me to see people not just as resources, but as individuals with emotions, challenges, and aspirations. Empathy helps me connect with my team at a deeper level, fostering trust, loyalty, and mutual respect.

I firmly believe that people perform their best when they feel understood and valued. A leader’s responsibility is not only to guide but also to support, inspire, and uplift. At the same time,

hunger to grow keeps me continuously moving forward. Growth, for me, is not just financial; it is personal evolution, skill enhancement, and mindset development.

Balancing emotional intelligence with ambition has helped me build strong teams, create a positive work culture, and navigate challenges with maturity. Leadership is not about authority or control; it is about influence, accountability, and setting an example. When leaders grow, teams grow with them. Continuous self-improvement, combined with compassion, has been the foundation of my leadership journey.

Q. How do you balance growth, technology, and people in your business?

Ambika Mani: “Balancing growth, technology, and people requires clarity of purpose and strong core values. For me, passion, compassion, smart work, and a positive outlook toward opportunities play a vital role in building a sustainable business. Growth cannot exist without technology, but technology alone is meaningless without people who believe in the vision and drive it forward.

I focus on smart work rather than just hard work, leveraging technology to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability while ensuring that the human aspect of the organisation is never compromised. People are the backbone of any business, and when they feel valued, empowered, and aligned with the mission, growth becomes organic. Compassion allows me to understand my team’s needs and challenges, while passion keeps the organisational energy alive.

Technology supports growth, people sustain it, and values protect it. I ensure that decisions are made with a long-term perspective where innovation supports human potential rather than replacing it. When growth goals are aligned with ethical leadership, technological advancement, and human values, balance becomes achievable. This harmony is what builds not just successful businesses, but lasting and meaningful enterprises.
