Ajmer’s Seven Wonders Park Demolition Begins After Supreme Court Order

After the Supreme Court's order, the demolition of Ajmer's famous Seven Wonders Park began on Friday. Legal authority has now tightened control over this park, which was built at a cost of crores. The administration has restricted media access to the park, and police forces have been deployed on-site. The Supreme Court had instructed the removal of the Seven Wonders Park about six months ago, but only one statue was taken down and stored below. 

The court expressed displeasure over this delay and strongly ordered the Ajmer administration to complete the removal within a set deadline. Recently, the district administration assured the Supreme Court via an affidavit that the park would be fully removed by September 17. Now, efforts are being accelerated to meet that commitment. This park, developed at a cost of approximately Rs 11.64 crore under the Smart City project, housed replicas of the world’s seven wonders, including the Taj Mahal, Eiffel Tower, Egyptian pyramids, Leaning Tower of Pisa, Colosseum of Rome, Statue of Liberty in New York, and Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

For a long time, it was a popular spot for locals and tourists, but legal obstacles have now decided its future. The Ajmer Development Authority (ADA) previously issued tenders to remove the statues, but the process was canceled after only one company bid. Preparations are now underway to reissue the tender.

During a hearing on February 25, the Supreme Court expressed its displeasure, dismissing the affidavit of the Smart City's ACEO and municipal officials and making it clear that the park must be removed at any cost. With the demolition of the Seven Wonders Park, Ajmer will lose its unique identity. This major city attraction will now exist only in photographs and memories. The administration has stated that its priority is to adhere to court orders, and therefore, the park will be fully cleared in the coming days.
