Police arrested eight militia members of the banned CPI (Maoist) party in Telangana's Bhadradri Kothagudem district. Eight people, hailing from neighboring Chhattisgarh, were arrested on Wednesday during a joint search operation by police and CRPF personnel in the Tippapuram forest area of Cherla mandal of the district, police said.

Police arrested eight militia members of the banned CPI (Maoist) party in Telangana's Bhadradri Kothagudem district.
Eight people, hailing from neighboring Chhattisgarh, were arrested on Wednesday during a joint search operation by police and CRPF personnel in the Tippapuram forest area of Cherla mandal of the district, police said.
An official release said that he has been working as a militia member for the CPI (Maoist) party for the last two years.
The eight members, along with other militants, had planted a 12-kg landmine under BT Road between two villages in Cherla mandal in July last year, allegedly to 'kill' police personnel.
A case was registered against them under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and Explosives Act and relevant sections of the IPC.
