Women’s Share in AI Jobs Rises to 31% in India, Says Instahyre
Women in AI Jobs India: The share of women in jobs related to artificial intelligence and new technologies is steadily increasing in India. According to a new report, women hold 31% of new AI-related positions in the country, although their numbers at the leadership level remain low.
As per the recent research by major tech companies like Anthropic claims that women's jobs are most at risk due to the advent of AI. However, the latest data from Indian hiring firms suggests otherwise. In India, women are filling 31 out of every 100 positions created in AI and future technologies.
According to talent platform Instahyre, the share of women in AI jobs has increased from 26% last year to 31% now. Women are increasingly participating not only in mundane jobs but also in more complex jobs like data analytics, design engineering, R&D, product management, and quality assurance.
The overall female participation in the Indian tech workforce is approximately 36%. This figure is around 35% in entry-level jobs, largely thanks to campus placements in engineering colleges. Companies are now eliminating gender bias and prioritizing talent.

While women are significantly ahead at the beginning of their careers, this number drops significantly as they reach the top levels of leadership. According to statistics, women hold approximately 23% of leadership positions, while this percentage drops to approximately 17% in top executive positions.
Instahire Chief Business Officer Sarbojit Mallick says that a clear structural gap still exists in the tech industry. According to them, nearly one in three professionals entering the tech sector is a woman, but fewer than one in four women reach leadership levels. This situation highlights the challenges women face in advancing in India's tech talent pipeline.
