WhatsApp users troubled by international spam calls: Experts said - Report and block the number

For a few days, millions of Whatsapp users in India are troubled by spam calls from +254, +84, +63, +21, +62, or other international numbers. Not only fake calls but people are also getting fake messages. These spam calls are mostly coming from African and South East Asian countries.
Experts say to 'report and block' such numbers. The Indian Cybercrime Coordination Center (I4C) of the Ministry of Home Affairs has also issued an alert so that people can avoid falling prey to any kind of fraud.
Data analysts and forensic specialists working with the government to curb cybercrime told a news agency on condition of anonymity that such international numbers are of 'Singapore, Vietnam, and Malaysia' origin. These criminal elements can steal users' financial data.
According to the agency's report, the expert said, 'This is a new cybercrime trend. Many people in India are getting calls and missed calls on WhatsApp from +254, +84, +63, +1 (218), or other international numbers. Many of these people have also become victims of cybercrime.
Another expert suggested that people should 'report and block missed call alerts or calls from +254, +84, +63 or other international numbers on WhatsApp.'
According to experts, anti-social elements are sending these calls and messages at any time from 6 am to late at night. Such calls and messages are being received by all groups of people, be it private workers, businessmen, retired government officers, or school and college boys or girls. We need to be careful of such calls.
