Warehouse collapses in Maharashtra's Bhiwandi, 3 killed: Many feared trapped under debris, 11 rescued
A three-storey warehouse collapsed at Bhiwandi in Maharashtra's Thane district on Saturday, trapping people living and working in the complex. 3 people died in the accident. So far 11 people have been rescued. 10 of them are injured.
Avinash Sawant, head of the regional disaster management cell, said several people were feared trapped under the debris. The ground plus two-storey building in the Vardhaman compound collapsed at around 1.45 pm, he said. A family of four lived on the upper floor, while labourers worked on the ground floor. He said fire tenders from Bhiwandi, Thane and other nearby areas have been deployed for the search and rescue operation.

The building was in Vardhman Compound in Valpada, Kailashnagar. There was a warehouse below this building and a house above it. It is not yet clear whether the structure of this building was residential or commercial. Workers were working on the lower floor. Some of them are feared to be buried under the debris. Ambulances are stationed at the scene.
