India's young cricketer Vaibhav Suryavanshi is making new records every day. Whenever he comes on the field, he makes some record or the other. Ever since Rajasthan Royals bought him for Rs 1.10 crore in the IPL-2025 auction, Vaibhav has set a flurry of records. This 13-year-old cricketer is currently playing for Bihar in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and there this left-handed batsman has made a record here too.
Vaibhav made his Vijay Hazare Trophy debut against Madhya Pradesh at the Nextgen Cricket Ground in Hyderabad on 21 December. With this, his name entered the record books. He has become the youngest Indian to debut in List-A. Vaibhav made his debut in the Vijay Hazare Trophy at the age of 13 years 269 days.
With this, Vaibhav broke a 24-year-old record. The previous record was in the name of Ali Akbar, who debuted in Vijay Hazare Trophy, representing Vidarbha against MP in the 1999-2000 season at the age of 14 years 51 days. Vaibhav is the youngest Indian who started his Ranji trophy debut. He has played for India in the 'Recently held Under-19 Asia Cup'. He is also the youngest player bought in an IPL auction.
However, the debut of Vaibhav turned out to be a flop. He disappointed quite a lot with his bat and returned to the pavilion on the second ball itself. Aryan Pandey dismissed him. The first ball by Vaibhav was a four but then on the next ball, he was out. In this match, batting first, Bihar could make only 196 runs. This target was achieved by Madhya Pradesh in 25.1 overs.
Vaibhav has been in the news ever since his name came up in IPL and Rajasthan bought him. There have also been questions regarding his age. His father had to give clarification in this matter. Vaibhav's father had said that his son had passed every test. When in the Asia Cup, Vaibhav hit long sixes, then former Pakistani fast bowler Junaid Khan had also raised questions about his age.
