Uber Green to run in Delhi-Mumbai and Bengaluru from next month: Company to launch Global EV project

Uber will launch its global EV project 'Uber Green' in India next month. The company announced on Wednesday (May 24) that it will start electric vehicle service in June, after which passengers will be able to choose the option of an electric vehicle while booking a ride.
The company told that now this service will start in Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. After this, the company will extend its electric vehicle service to other cities.
The company has announced that it will add 25,000 EV cars to its platform by 2025 and 10,000 electric two-wheelers by 2024.
For EV cars, the company has partnered with Lithium Urban Technology, Everest Fleet Pvt Ltd, and Move. At the same time, Uber has partnered with Zip Electric for electric two-wheelers.
Uber has announced a partnership with SIDBI for EV financing. Along with this, the company has joined hands with Jio-BP and GMR Green Energy for EV charging infrastructure.
Uber tweeted, 'Introducing Uber Green - an all-electric, zero tailpipe emissions vehicle bringing the on-demand EV experience to India with just a few taps!'
Andrew Macdonald, Senior Vice President of Mobility and Business Operations at Uber said, “India is a key focus area as we continue to deliver on our commitment to electrify every ride on our platform by 2040. The company has decided to use only green cars in about 125 cities in India.
For this, we have partnered with different companies for EV financing and EV charging infrastructure. We want to provide EV service to all passengers on the Uber platform by 2040.
Prabhjeet Singh, President of Uber India and South Asia, said that running a fully electric vehicle is a very challenging task, but for this, we are partnering with many companies. Along with this, efforts are also being made to adapt the drivers to this change.
