Japanese automaker Nissan has finally discontinued the production of its iconic sports car GT-R. The longest-running generation of this iconic sports car, called Godzilla, said goodbye by introducing the Midnight Purple T-Spec R35 GT-R. It was the last Nissan GT-R of the R35-generation, whose production began. The R35 generation model lasted in the market for 18 years. A total of 48,000 units of this generation were produced.

T-Spec model gave a great farewell to this GT-R generation. This car was a perfect blend between the stock GT-R and the track-oriented NISMO model. It produced 557 bhp of power through a twin-turbo V6 engine, light alloy wheels, and heritage colours reminiscent of previous GT-R generations.

Each generation of the Nissan GT-R had its own identity. The original model was somewhere between the Datsun 510 and the BMW E9. The R32 Skyline GT-R was a powerful touring car. The R34, the last manual transmission GT-R, became very popular due to the Fast and Furious movie. It was followed by the R35, which lasted for almost two decades and was phased out of production. The R35 was a very advanced car from a technological point of view.

The discontinuation of the Nissan GT-R is disappointing for car lovers. At the moment, the company has no plans for the next generation. But they have assured that the GT-R name will return in the future. It is possible that it will come in some electric form next time. At present, the company's financial position is not so strong. Hence, the focus is on profitable SUVs and crossover cars instead of supercars.

Nissan also introduced the GT-R in the Indian market last decade ago. But Godzilla's performance in India did not last long. And from a business point of view, it fizzled out. Overall, the R35 generation GT-R left memories for car lovers after its long journey.
