With the help of young batsman Rachin Ravindra's hundred and former captain Tom Latham's fifty, New Zealand defeated Bangladesh by five wickets. The Kiwi team, by securing this win, reached the semi-final in the 2025 Champions Trophy. Moreover, former title winner Pakistan suffered a massive debacle. The team is the first to fall in the tournament in their homeland.

In response to 236 by Bangladesh, New Zealand, who started to bat, got a poor start and two wickets fell for 15. Will Young (zero) and Kane Williamson (five) got out. Then, following them, Devon Conway also got to the pavilion for (30) runs. Rachin Ravindra and Tom Latham played the stuttering innings of New Zealand. The two batsmen built up a 129-run stand for the fourth wicket.

In the ninth over, Michael Bracewell gave Bangladesh the first blow by dismissing Tanjid Hasan (24). After this, Bangladesh wickets kept falling at regular intervals. However, during this time Nazmul Shanto stood at one end. In the 12th over, Bangladesh's second wicket fell in the form of Mehdi Hasan Miraz (13).

In the 44th over, Matt Henry dismissed Rishad Hussain (26) and sent him to the pavilion.

On the first ball of the 49th over, Latham dashed Bangladesh's hopes of a challenging score by running out Jaker Ali. Jaker Ali scored (45) runs in 55 balls with three fours and a six. Taskin Ahmed (10) was out as the ninth wicket. Bangladesh scored 236 runs for nine wickets. For New Zealand, Michael Bracewell took four wickets, William O'Rourke took two wickets. Matt Henry and Taskin Ahmed dismissed one batsman each.
