According to Iran's news agency IRNA, Deputy Health Minister Yunus Panahi said – There have been several cases of poisoning of girl students in schools in Ghome city. This shows that some people want to stop girls' education and want to close girls' schools.
He said- Whatever chemical compound is being used to do this, it is not very dangerous. It can be treated soon. But girl students are being poisoned deliberately. This matter is being investigated. He has not given much information related to this.
At present, no one has been arrested in this case. At the same time, Majid Monemi, deputy governor of Lorestan province, said – a similar case came to the fore in Borujerd city as well. After this, the spokesperson of the Iranian government, Ali Bahadori Jahromi said – Intelligence Agency and Education Minister are investigating the matter. Soon those who gave poison will be caught. A judicial inquiry has also been ordered.
According to reports, the cases of poisoning of girl students have come to the fore after protests started on September 16 over the death of Mahsa Amini. In fact, on September 16, 22-year-old Mehsa died in police custody. She was not wearing a hijab, after which she was arrested. There are restrictions on girls in Iran and strict laws regarding wearing hijab.
Several school girls took to the streets to protest against Mehsa's death and the mandatory hijab. Since then, news of the poisoning of girl students started surfacing. The government and its agencies were accused of poisoning. After this allegation, the government officials said – We believe that the students have fallen ill. The reason for this is bad water. Bacteria flourished in the water and students fell ill after drinking it.
The government of Iran has even declared the protesting girl students as mentally ill. Iran's education minister had said that school and college girls who oppose hijab are not in a good mental state.
He said – all these girl students are suffering from mental illness. These girl students are being admitted to the psychiatric hospital. So that the anti-social behaviour that is flourishing in these girl students can be rectified.
