Feeling low this season? Try this Ayurvedic hibiscus tea for instant refresh

With Holi gone and the sun shining brighter in March and April, our energy levels are low. We feel tired and sluggish in our bodies. Sadhguru of the Isha Foundation gives us a simple yet great recipe for tea made from hibiscus flowers.

This tea is no ordinary tea. It’s an Ayurvedic tea that keeps our body cool and our minds calm in such unpredictable weather. It’s very simple to make, and the benefits of drinking this tea are so great that you can forget expensive cold drinks and teas. It's very easy to make and requires only a few basic kitchen items. Let's learn the simple method of making it and its benefits.

  • Dried hibiscus flowers: 1 cup
  • Cinnamon: 1-inch piece or 2 teaspoons powder
  • Ginger: 1/2-inch piece
  • Honey or palm jaggery: According to taste

First, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. When the water starts to boil, add the hibiscus flowers, cinnamon, and ginger. Let it boil for about 5 minutes. Then, turn off the heat, cover the pot, and let it steep for 15-20 minutes. Keep in mind that leaving the flowers in the water for too long can make the tea bitter, so be mindful of the time. After this, strain it and squeeze the ginger and cinnamon well to release the full flavor. Now add honey or jaggery for sweetness.
