Dollar Vs Rupee: Indian currency saw a rise, Rupee increased by so much against dollar

The fall in the dollar has helped the Indian currency to come out of its limited range. The rupee opened with a rise of 2 paise against the dollar on the last day of the trading week. Forex traders said that the rising volatility in crude oil prices due to soft trend in the stock market, unabated withdrawal of foreign funds and geopolitical situation has Put pressure on the Indian currency.

Today at the Interbank Foreign Exchange, the domestic currency opened at 83.25 against the greenback, 2 paise higher than its previous close. On Thursday, the domestic currency closed at 83.27 against the dollar.

Meanwhile, the dollar reflects the strength of the six currencies in the index. The dollar index was trading 0.05 per cent higher at 101.52 on Friday. Global oil price benchmark Brent crude rose 0.97 per cent to US$80.16 a barrel.

Today BSE Sensex was trading at 70,843.65, down 21.45 points or 0.03 per cent. The broader NSE Nifty rose 16.50 points, or 0.08 per cent, to 21,271.55. According to exchange data, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold shares worth Rs 1,636.19 crore on Thursday.
