Distributors did not want to invest money on 'Gadar': Sunny Deol opened the secret

These days Sunny Deol is busy promoting his upcoming film 'Gadar 2'. Recently the makers hosted the re-release premiere of its first part 'Gadar: Ek Prem Katha' in Mumbai. On this occasion, Sunny told that 22 years ago when his film 'Gadar' was ready, no one was ready to sell it. The distributors used to drive him away saying that they would not buy the film. But when this film was released, it created history. Gadar 2 will release on August 11 this year.
Sunny told at the event, 'When 'Gadar: Ek Prem Katha' was launched, we did not know that this film would create a rebellion. When we used to go to people to sell it, they used to say that it is a Punjabi film. Dub it in Hindi. Some distributors used to say that they will not buy this film.
Sunny further added, 'Overall we faced a lot of trouble before releasing that film but when it was released in theatres, it broke many records. The public liked the film so much that they got everyone's mouth shut. It was the people who gave us the courage to make its second part.
While Sunny was asked whether this time there will be an iconic handpump uprooting scene in the film or not. So they said- 'This time the makers hid all the handpumps. Already fired.
Gadar: Ek Prem Katha recently re-released in theatres. And its sequel 'Gadar 2' will release on August 11 this year. Like the first part, it will feature a stellar cast including Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel, and Utkarsh Sharma.
