Arindam Chaudhuri says Deepika Padukone is powering SRK 2.0

New Delhi (India): In an editorial for Daily Indian Media http://www.dailyindian.com/2023/01/04/how-deepika-padukone-is-powering-srk-2-0/ on the eve of Deepika Padukone’s 36th Birthday, Management Guru Dr. Arindam Chaudhuri has come out with some extra ordinary praise for Deepika Padukone. While calling her a symbol of ‘Beauty, Brains & Bravery’, he explains that not only after Madhubala and Sridevi she is the most beautiful female actor of Bollywood but also the symbol of intelligence and bravery clearly evident from her public stances wrt mental health issues etc. He calls her FIFA appearance the greatest eye ball garnering pre-release publicity for any film in recorded history globally and goes on to state that even Shah Rukh Khan owes it big time to her— something that no one else has put it in this way before him.

He writes, ”While the initial success of DDLJ & KKHH made SRK the heartbeat of billions across the world and he is very rightly India’s only entry into top 50 greatest actors of the world; SRK has never really been able to establish himself as a box office super power the way Salman Khan or Aamir Khan have.” 

He says the heartthrob part can’t keep him going long if it’s not backed up by some genuine box office blockbusters.  In that respect, Shah Rukh Khan’s three real blockbusters in last 15 years (since 2007) have been the three films he has done with Deepika Padukone viz Om Shanti Om— the only film that can be compared to his initial iconic films, and Chennai Express & Happy New Year— SRK’s only two films to have done a business of 400cr plus, making SRK 2.0 synonymous with Deepika Padukone.
