Chennai International Airport Customs officials have made a stunning revelation. 10 high-powered drones concealed in unclaimed bags from one of the Abu Dhabi to Chennai flights of Indigo Airlines have been confiscated. This has shocked security agencies, as the drones are suspected to have terrorist inputs.

When the Indigo commercial aircraft carrying 224 passengers arrived from Abu Dhabi at Chennai airport on the 30th of April, all the passengers picked up all their baggage, but one large piece was left unclaimed at the conveyor belt. This piece of luggage's baggage tag was even pulled, heightening suspicion. Indigo security staff first passed the piece of luggage through the metal detector and kept it in the office of the airline as no immediate danger was detected. No claimant arrived to claim the piece of luggage for two days. It was then handed over to the Customs Department. Customs staff thoroughly scrutinized the piece of luggage and revealed 10 high-powered drones hidden amongst parcels of chocolates and biscuits. Their nature and the modus operandi raised suspicions among the security agencies.

The Customs Department has registered a case and started an in-depth investigation. CCTV footage of the airport's baggage claim and arrival area is being closely examined to identify the person who left the bag. The reasons for removing the bag tag are also being investigated, which is being considered an important clue. Central intelligence agencies have also joined the investigation to trace the origin of the drones and their intended recipients. The investigation has been further broadened in view of the possibility of links with terrorist activities.
