RBI Report: Asset quality of banks improved, NPA reduced by 3.2 per cent by September 2023     

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has informed about the improvement in the asset quality of all the banks in the country. The report released by RBI said that the gross NPA has declined by 3.2 per cent in September 2023. Today RBI has released the Trend and Progress of Banking in India 2022-23 report. It has been told in this report that the SCB of banks has increased by 12.2 per cent in 2022-23.

Apart from this, there has also been a rise in deposits in the country. However, loan growth is much faster than this. It has been told in this report that the Net Interest Margin (NIM) has also increased in 2022-23. Improvement in the asset quality of banks started in 2018-2019. This improvement is currently ongoing.

Regarding bank fraud, it has been said in this report that the cases of fraud have increased this year. Last year the number of fraud cases was 5,396, which has doubled this year to 14,483.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in its report on Trend and Progress of Banking in India 2022-23 released on December 27 said the consolidated balance sheets of scheduled commercial banks (SCBs) grew by 12.2% in 2022-23.
