Google Messages has introduced several new features for Android and Pixel users. The most important among them is the AI-powered scam detection tool. Google said in its blog post, "We are sharing four new Android features designed to keep you connected and make life easier. You can get alerts for suspicious conversations in Messages, share live locations, and play more games while parking."

Cyber scam cases are rapidly increasing globally. Keeping this in view, Google has introduced a new AI-powered protection feature that scans SMS, MMS, and RCS messages that are coming to the Messages app in real time and identifies possibly fake messages. If the spam message is caught, users are shown a notification where they can dismiss the message, report the message, or block the sender.

According to Google, this feature is specifically designed to deal with fraudulent conversations that start as innocent conversations but later become part of fraudulent schemes.

This will be rolled out first in English to the US, the UK, and Canada. It will then be rolled out to the rest of the world. It will be on by default but will only block the messages from an unknown contact. It will listen to your one-on-one conversations but will leave them unaffected. To maintain the users' privacy, the analysis of the messages is done within the device itself, that is the information does not get uploaded anywhere.
