On Thursday, the government appointed former Finance and Economic Affairs Secretary Ajay Seth as the Chairman of Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI).
A release by the government stated that the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has sanctioned the appointment of Seth as chairman of the insurance regulator for a term of three years or until the age of 65 or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Seth, a 1987 batch Karnataka cadre IAS officer, retired as Secretary of Economic Affairs in June this year after serving for four years. The selection of the Chairman of IRDAI is at least four months after the vacant post.
