India sought redemption after their opening game, which ended in a thrilling 3-3 draw against Pakistan. They began confidently in the first quarter, with forward Angad Bir Singh leading the charge. However, an alert Malaysian goalkeeper, Rafaizul Mohamad, thwarted India's early attempts. In the 13th minute, hosts Malaysia broke the deadlock with an excellent goal by Suhaimi Irfan Shahmie.
