Modi's advice - Putin should resolve Ukraine issue through talks

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke on the phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday. During this, PM Modi once again asked Putin to resolve the Ukraine war through dialogue and diplomacy. Both the leaders have discussed increasing cooperation between India and Russia in trade, energy, defence as well as other areas.
In a phone conversation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi told Putin his priorities for the G20. He said that India also looks forward to working closely with Russia as the Chairman of the Shanghai Corporation.
The India-Russia summit is being held annually since 2000. In which the leaders of both countries meet. But, this time PM Modi will not have a personal meeting with Vladimir Putin. According to reports, India is angry with Russia's threat of using nuclear weapons in the Ukraine war. Due to this PM, Modi decided not to meet Putin. The India-Russia summit is the highest forum for strategic partnership between the two countries. So far 21 meetings of this forum have been held.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin met on the sidelines of the SCO meeting in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. In a conversation between the two that lasted for about 50 minutes, Modi demanded Putin end the Ukraine war. He had said that this is not the era of war.
Russian President Vladimir Putin will participate in the G20 summit to be held in Delhi on 9 and 10 September 2023. G20's Russian Sherpa Svetlana Lukash has given this information. Regarding the Russia-Ukraine war, India has continuously insisted on maintaining a diplomatic balance between the two countries. India has been suggesting finding a solution to this issue through dialogue.
