The Election Commission is taking strict measures to conduct free and fair elections. On the instructions of the Commission, to ensure adherence to the Model Code of Conduct, cash, liquor and other means of luring voters are being tightened. Since the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct in Karnataka on March 16, liquor worth Rs 146 crore and cash worth Rs 45.67 crore have been seized.

Karnataka's 28 seats will be up for election in two phases on April 26 and May 7. According to the Karnataka Chief Electoral Officer's office, cash worth Rs 45.67 crore, drugs worth Rs 9.70 crore, gold worth Rs 10.81 crore, and freebies worth Rs 7.73 crore were confiscated by flying squads, surveillance teams, and police teams.

Here, on Thursday, Andhra Pradesh's Chief Electoral Officer, Mukesh Kumar Meena, announced that since March 16, the state has seized goods worth Rs 100 crore in addition to cash, alcohol, drugs, and precious metals.

Before the general elections, Mizoram Police has so far seized illegal liquor and drugs worth Rs 6 crore and arrested 94 people. The police officer said that 61 accused related to illicit liquor were arrested and 51 cases were registered. In the drug-related case, 25 cases were registered and 33 accused were arrested.
