Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) will launch its weather satellite INSAT-3DS today. This launch will be done with the GSLV F14 rocket. The objective of launching the INSAT-3DS satellite is to get accurate information about meteorological and natural disasters. This launch will be done at around 5.35 pm on Saturday from Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh.

The weather satellite INSAT-3DS will be launched into Earth's geostationary orbit by the GSLV F14 rocket. The Indian government's Ministry of Earth Sciences has provided all of the funding for this mission. An important step towards India's growing dominance in space is this launch. The INSAT-3DS satellite will conduct a detailed study of the ocean's surface, enabling more precise weather forecasting and improved natural disaster prediction. Effective steps to avert natural disasters will be implemented when precise warnings about them are obtained beforehand. For Indian weather agencies, this weather satellite will prove to be extremely valuable.

The rocket GSLV F14 which will launch INSAT-3DS is also called Naughty Boy. Naughty boy because this will be the 16th mission of GSLV F14 and before this 40 percent of missions of GSLV F14 have failed. Its previous mission was successful, but the one before that was unsuccessful. ISRO said that the weather satellite INSAT-3DS to be launched today is an upgraded version of the weather satellite INSAT-3D launched in 2013 and will provide better weather information.
