Many players in the Indian cricket team do not give importance to domestic cricket after making their debut in international cricket. They only play the Indian Premier League (IPL) and are not a part of the Ranji Trophy. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is angry with the attitude of such players and has given them an ultimatum.

BCCI and the national selectors have given strict instructions to the players who are out of Team India for the England series to play the next round of the Ranji Trophy. The board has asked everyone to join their respective Ranji teams before the next round starting on February 16. This decision was taken when players like Ishan Kishan left the Ranji Trophy and started preparing for the IPL.

It has been said in the board's order that players cannot give priority only to international cricket or IPL but they will have to keep themselves available for domestic cricket also. An email related to this order has been sent by BCCI to all the players.

In December of last year, Ishaan had cancelled his tour of South Africa, citing mental health issues. He did not even participate in the T20 series against Afghanistan after this. In addition, he was left off of the England Test team roster. He was recently spotted working out with Hardik Pandya, the captain of the Mumbai Indians (MI). The board is furious with these players for squandering their time and waiting for the IPL.

In addition, the board has requested that Shreyas Iyer, who is sidelined for Team India due to an injury, play Ranji. The National Cricket Academy has not yet deemed Hardik Pandya completely fit (NCA). In such a situation, this decision will not apply to them. Whereas Virat Kohli is out of the team due to personal reasons.
